Le Misanthrope
My hate is general, I detest all men; Some because they are wicked and do evil, Others because they tolerate the wicked, Refusing them the active vigorous scorn Which vice should stimulate in virtuous minds.
Too Gentle To Live Among Wolves
“There are men too gentle to live among wolves
Who prey upon them with IBM eyes
And sell their hearts and guts for martinis at noon.
There are men too gentle for a savage world
Who dream instead of snow and children and Halloween
And wonder if the leaves will change their color soon.
There are men too gentle to live among wolves
Who anoint them for burial with greedy claws
And...

On the Waterfront
Terry: A steady job? A couple of extra potatoes, that's all I want.
Charlie: Sure, that's great when you're a kid. But you're getting on. You're pushing 30. You know, it's time to think about getting some ambition.
Terry: I always figured I'd live a bit longer without it.
Proclamation of Independence
In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful. Praise be to God, the Lord of the Universe and may the blessings and peace of God be upon His Messengers.
WHEREAS the time has now arrived when the people of the Persekutuan Tanah Melayu will assume the status of a free independent and sovereign nation among nations of the World
AND WHEREAS by an agreement styled the Federation of Malaya...
Because you mean the world to me too : )
One Sunday evening
Wow, it’s amazing how lonesome one can get by an event that would logically not affect anything. How can the fact that your best friend has just moved from Melbourne to KL ever affect you when you’re in Cambridge? It doesn’t matter where he is, either way, he is not with you.
And yet. I feel strangely melancholic over it.
In six months time, I will start a new phase in life,...
Even the very wise cannot see all ends.
Frodo: It's a pity Bilbo didn't kill him when he had the chance.
Gandalf: Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill before this is over. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many.
Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final...

So yeah, whatever.
I have been watching too much TV. It’s getting very unhealthy, even by my pretty low health standard. The only sport I play now is chess- which btw is a real sport, no arguments to the contrary will be entertained- and that against the computer. It’s really sad, but what did I expect? I’m in college for Christmas. Ending up alone is pretty standard.
So yeah, I watched TV. And...
Stuff, stuff, stuff...
It’s been almost 2 weeks since I started Christmas break, and I cannot say that I’ve been productive. Tomorrow, I plan to start my revision regime, starting with EU Law and followed by Comparative Law. The thing is, I am dreading the time when I finally have to come to terms with the fact that I am actually doing Equity as a Tripos subject. All this while I’ve been treating it...
Earth (1998)
“When a mob forms in the name of a religion, its first casualty is usually the teaching of the religion.”
-Roger Ebert
These are the words of a film reviewer on the very well-made Indian film, “Earth” starring Aamir Khan. The story has as its backdrop the partition of India while focusing on the lives of various individuals living in Lahore in 1947. It is told from...

Words of Wisdom
Anticipation is the purest form of pleasure. And the most reliable. And that while the things that actually happen to you would invariably disappoint you, the things that never happen to you would never dim, never fade. They’d always be engraved on your heart with some sort of sweet sadness to them.
